# WhatsApp / LiveChat Handover

> Hand an ongoing WhatsApp or LiveChat conversation to a human -- the AI stops replying until a person takes over.

## Overview

The **WhatsApp handover** tool hands an ongoing chat conversation (WhatsApp or LiveChat) to a human. It's a [tool](/docs/en/tools) you add to an assistant, and it performs an **in-app handover**: the conversation is taken over by a person inside the app.

<Warning>
  Once a conversation is handed over, the AI **stops responding autonomously** -- the conversation waits for a human response.

## Adding the tool

Add it from the assistant's **Tools** tab via **Create tool → WhatsApp handover**.

The handover type is **In-app human review**.

## Options

* **Notify by email** -- when enabled, sends a notification through your tenant's SMTP when the handover starts.
* **Recipient email** -- the address that receives this notification.
