The Placetel MCP server connects your AI assistant to your account. You describe the phone assistant you want; the assistant creates it, writes the instructions, picks the settings and adds tools, and asks you before every change.

What a session looks like

You connect your client and paste the start prompt. Then you describe the agent you want, in your own words:
Build a reception agent for a dental practice. It should greet callers, take appointment requests with name, phone number and preferred time, and hand over to a human for emergencies. Formal address, calm tone.
The assistant then
  1. lists your existing agents and reads the two guides,
  2. creates the agent and shows you the draft instructions for review,
  3. sets the greeting, language, voice and conversation style one setting at a time, showing you each change and its side effects,
  4. tells you what is left: connect a phone number in the dashboard and make a test call.
Ten minutes later you call the number and talk to the agent. If something is off, you say so and the assistant adjusts the setting.

What you can do

  • Voice agents: create, read, delete; change instructions, greeting, voice, language and knowledge-base settings.
  • Tools: create API tools and supported integration tools, enable them per agent, run one for testing.
  • Conversations: list past calls with filters, read transcripts, and fix the agent or a tool based on what you find.

Get started

  1. Authentication and Quickstart: token, connect, start prompt.
  2. Build a voice agent, then add tools.
  3. Monitor and improve from real calls.
Every MCP tool and the scopes it needs are listed in the tool reference.

Two kinds of tools

An MCP tool such as create_tool is what your AI assistant calls to manage your account. A voice-agent tool is a function your phone assistant uses during a call, for example to look up an appointment. To connect your own MCP server to a voice agent instead, see Custom MCP Server.
